"Dr. Somaieh Nikpoor is a distinguished scientist, advocate, and mentor working at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and policy. She currently holds the position of Lead for Data Science and AI Strategy at Transport Canada, where she designs AI and analytics roadmaps based on organizational readiness and supports various policy initiatives related to AI and data. Prior to her current position at Transport Canada, Dr. Nikpoor served in several key roles within the Canadian government. She was an advisor for AI and machine learning at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), and she contributed significantly to the Advanced Analytics Lab at Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), where she led the development and delivery of numerous analytical products. In addition to her government work, Dr. Nikpoor is an adjunct professor in the Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program at Carleton University's Sprott School of Business. Her academic contributions focus on AI ethics and responsible AI development, reflecting her passion for the responsible application of AI technologies. Dr. Nikpoor's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Ottawa, equipping her with a solid foundation for her influential work in AI policy and strategy. Her collaborative efforts extend to academia and non-profit organizations, where she curates and generates original content to help others navigate various AI ethics and AI policy topics and concepts.
